'I do like the Pelican...' sorry didn't see this comment. Yes I really like the Pelican, my Pelican is a SOT so it really is only good in the mid-late spring (April) till about near the end of September where I live. Or the water is too cold, get quite wet in the SOT. I do have a tandem Old-Town "Vie II" that I use in the spring and fall and kayak camping. The Pelican is great for playaing around in the waves and for short day trips. My Pelican is a single and is 8' long "Burst".

Well I don't live near the ocean but have a fairly large lake 2or3 blocks from my home. When the north wind blows in the summer and the waves get about 2' I get out there and play around in them. It's fin when you catch the right one and it will carry you about 50'. But when the storms come the lake waves have been about 4' high I'm sure, and I have seen video clips of people kayaking in those waves. Here is a video I have found of kayaking in the Okanagan.
I see you have a Pelican kayak. How do you like it?
I have a couple kayaks one of my kayaks is also a Pelican it is a sit-on-top (SOT) I really like it for playing on the waves and short trips. I also have a tandem kayak I use for camping and long trips.
