Since the baby was born, I've accomplished a number of things, most of which have been baby related. I've discovered the joys of 3 am feedings, learned the inside of Baby's R Us like the back of my hand, etc. I've squirrel-proofed my pecan tree, even read O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series - all 20 volumes, but I have not been fishing or kayaking for the past 7, almost 8 weeks. So, Jason and I had a few rough days on the water in early July. We went to Dickinson Bayou one morning, thinking that we should have a great trout bite on the reef there, but that wasn't to be. Instead, we ended up with a marathon paddling session into a back marsh drain and finally found a couple of rat reds near the barges where we started. Too ADD for me.
I've moved back to LA, and went into a shop I worked at for years, but hadn't been in in 3 years or so. 40% of the shop is fishing kayaks! We might have had a few rod holders when I was there. The manager told me that fishing kayaks and kayakers were what was keeping the store afloat....
