Trip Report - Lake St Clair was somewhat peeved that day...

Saturday May 16th, 2009

NOAA and the other forecasts promised that the rain would leave the area by 11:00am. SpecterMike and I agreed to meet up at Metro Beach Metropark at 12:30pm.

When we got there it was still raining a little. We launched from a dirt ramp used by the sailboarders just west of the concrete jet ski launch. We paddled out into a light sprinkle and strong s/sw winds of about 15-20mph. I didn't like the look of the weather as we had a storm cell coming up on us from the… Continue

It was a beautiful day Saturday.

My friend, Mike, wants to get back into kayaking. Starting about ten years ago, up until about 4 years ago, he used to go out to Point Pelee and rent kayaks to paddle around the point. Now he misses it and wants to buy a kayak and get into it big time for a hobby... (Hmmm, don't know why that would lead him to t… Continue

TR: North Maumee Bay - This Is What Happens When I "Think"

Saturday March 21st, 2009.

Of course I was running a little late... Started loading my kayak and found that I needed to tighten up the overhead rack on my truck. This was after trying (unsuccessfully) to convince Nephew Gabe that he wasn't too sick to paddle a little...

So I arrived solo at the put-in (DNR Boat Ramp off Algonquin St. in Erie, MI) at 1:15PM not 1:00PM. Saw a guy there who was readying a Prijon Kodiak... Said "Hey, how ya doin'... Where ya goin'..." Stuff like that. Thought mayb… Continue
