I've been too busy to compile individual reports lately, so here's a compilation from the last couple of weeks.
On the 28th, Jason, Wade, and I headed to Chocolate Bayou. We'd had pretty good luck there the week prior so we were hoping that luck would continue. We met there about 9 and decided to try underneath the bridge first since it was closest to the launch.
Wade was first and nailed a little flounder. Then, in quick succession, I landed 3 ra

Well now that the chilly air is out of TX I'm back on the water. I'm not yet at 100% due to a stupid cold I've had for about 3weeks. But after a doctors visit today and two shots later I'm feeling better. This past weekend I fished in my first kayak bass tournament and did what I think is okay. I finished on the board in 29th out of 49 kayakers. I also landed my personal best largemouth bass with 45mins to go in the tourny. The location was Lake Bastrop which is just east of Austin, TX and about…

Well, i have bought a kayak, i was looking at the coelman fastback but after reading reviews i have gone for a Seyvlor K1 Pointer. I bought it for use on running rivers but the first i took it out in the Bristol Channel, with my brother he was on his malibu sit on top kayak. We paddled out from Ilfracombe harbour, out to the open water and up to Capstan. When we about half way round he decided we should paddle to an outlying rock, and swap over kayaks, i almost went for a swim as i tried to get…

So Sunday my buddy and I are heading out of Channel Island Harbor towards the first oil platform and we see a group of pelicans diving bombing into the water about a mile out. So we paddle over and we come upon the birds, seals and a pod of dolphins attacking a school of fish. The dolphins are jumping all around us, as close as a couple of feet. SO awesome. I had one dolphin bump my kayak as he swam under. My buddy actually had a group of 4 or 5 seals following him for a while. That freaked him…

Anyone know who this is?
"> Would you mind asking your club members if anyone knows the kayaker in the attached photo? I'd like to forward a full-sized version of this shot to him. Feel free to post on your site, if you think it will help.

Most people do not think about the Finger Lakes as a kayaking hot spot... but they should start! whatever you like, from sea kayaking, rec kayaking, and yes... kayak FISHING! The finger lakes have all of that to offer... and Fuzzy Guppies is right in the middle of it. Sitting on the Seneca-Cayuga River, which is a beautiful slow moving river filled with all sorts of wild life. it is also about 2.5 miles away from the deep waters of Seneca Lake, the deepest fresh water lake in the world! Jason, Wade, and I decided we were going to head out this weekend. The only question was, what day? Well, the winds weren't looking great on Saturday and I ended up being loaded with stuff to do for my wife, so even though there was a little bit of rain predicted on Sunday, the winds looked much better and I was free of chores.
As we we've considered various locations over the past few weeks, one place that kept

Jason and I decided to do some exploring this past weekend. It was supposed to be one of the best days weather-wise we've had all year and after a chilly start, it was.
We met at what used to be Ernie's around 8:30. I think the temperature was still in the high 30's when we launched. I know it was cold. My hands and feet were freezing, but at least we had not much wind to contend with.
We headed out and into Churchill bayou. We turned up into a ma

This was a quick last-minute trip for Jason and me. The wind was blowing a bit and I originally wasn't planning to go anywhere, but Jason called and we agreed to meet at Louis' around 2 pm.
We set forth and paddled under the RR bridge, where Jason nailed a rat red using a gulp SM (pumpkinseed). Here's the pic:

Hey I was wondering if you guys could help me choose my fist kayak. I am going to want to fish in it, but i was wondering if there is a kind of all around kayak. but I can not have it to long because I don't think my parents want a huge kayak in the garage. I think 12' would be max. So I was wondering if you guys could help me. Also I don't want to spend to much about 600 is my limit. So, if you guys have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

We've had a lot of really bad weather around here lately. It's either raining, cold, windy, or all three. This PACK outing was originally scheduled on the 30th, but the weather was so bad, it was moved to the 31st.
Although I didn't believe initially that this trip would be much of a success, I wanted to go anyway since Virginia Point is normally out of range for most kayak fishermen. The launch is private and the paddle to get there from the public launch is a long one that I am hesitant to ma…

Salinas River Trip Report by Matthew Geyer, 23 January 2010 (w/ Chris Popp)
I love Google Earth. It has helped to hatch many an adventure for me and the idea to run the Salinas River is one such hatchling.
My dad lives in Atascadero and he drove down to the bridge on Hwy 41 to snap some beta pictures of the Salinas River after a week of heavy rain. (>see photo below)

Since Jason and I discovered the winter pattern but haven't really had the chance to fish it, we finally put together a plan which would enable us to fish the pattern and find some fish. The plan was basically to start in the late afternoon and go to an area where we would be able to fish green lights after dark if it didn't pan out too well. This would also answer our question as to whether or not the green lights were good during the winter as well as the summer.
We put in at Waterman's Marin…

I've fallen a little behind in writing my fishing reports, so here's a compilation of the past few weeks.
On the 5th of January, Alex, Jason, Don, and I headed down to Bayou Vista to see if we could scare up any fish there. It was cold out - in the 40's and the wind wasn't very nice to us either. We didn't expect to catch anything and weren't disappointed. Here are a few pics from that trip:
My kayak coated with frost just before I left home that morning:
