Since the baby was born, I've accomplished a number of things, most of which have been baby related. I've discovered the joys of 3 am feedings, learned the inside of Baby's R Us like the back of my hand, etc. I've squirrel-proofed my pecan tree, even read O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series - all 20 volumes, but I have not been fishing or kayaking for the past 7, almost 8 weeks. That all changed this morning. After a few weeks of false starts, I was able to get out this morning and heade

I'm 12 years old and i recently had an amazing vacation with my family in Tennessee and seeing all the nature and creeks and such things, it inspired me to kayak. I have always loved water, that is when i am happiest. We are also planning on moving there in about a year. Well the point is i am saving up for a fishing kayak. Does anyone know where i can get a really good quality white water kayak for about $300. If you do that would help me so much.
Thanks,
Corbin

I'm planning a camping trip up in the Fort Bragg, CA area next week. I've paddled in the ocean off of Van Damme state park and up the Big River. We are going to be close to the Noyo River and I was wondering if anybody has any experience on that. I also plan on relaxing in a chair with beverage and looking at pictures of kayakers in a magazine, which I think counts for something. Anywhere else around there interesting?

Well here I go on my first attempt on writting up a report. Since Rick has joined the ranks of Daddy-Do's and limited time on the H2O I will try my best at a report.
Our first trip in the BV marsh was a great adventure that took us on a 7.5 mile loop. It was mostly an exploring trip looking for redfish for an up an coming Redfish Cup Tournament with my fishing club. Jason and I met up at Louis Bait Camp at 5am that morning. We launched and headed out to the marsh we decided to

So, Jason and I had a few rough days on the water in early July. We went to Dickinson Bayou one morning, thinking that we should have a great trout bite on the reef there, but that wasn't to be. Instead, we ended up with a marathon paddling session into a back marsh drain and finally found a couple of rat reds near the barges where we started. I did manage to pick up a ribbonfish, but he jumped off before I could get him in the boat. I think the total for the day was a couple of rat reds for

If you go kayaking with your dog, you should make sure he is wearing a
dog life vest. I never go kayaking without my life vest, and if my dog comes with me, she will wear her life vest. Years ago we had two yorkies that we would take to the lake and go kayaking with us. The girl would be in my boat and my husband had the male dog. They looked just adorable in their little designer life vests.
We would overhear a lot of people…

Recently my husband and I enjoyed a few days away at a lake -- one of our favorite lakes to be exact -- Ten Mile Lake in Lakeside, Oregon. It's on the Oregon coast and it's on our top 5 list of local lakes for a few reasons. ONE: we've caught several of our largest and best bass there in the past - always a plus on a bass fishing trip. TWO: the beauty of this lake is amazing with lots of off-shoot arms to explore that usually lead to more bass. THREE: the lake has some of the best lilypad beds a…

Jason called the night prior and asked if I was interested in taking a trip over to the Bolivar Pocket to see what we could find there. I was definitely interested, it's an area I've never fished but have always been curious about it. The only reason I haven't been there yet is because it involves a ferry ride over and during the summer, the ferries can be packed, sometimes necessitating a 3-4 hour wait and the pocket is best fished in the summer or spring.
Well, we got on t

Since San Leon is so close to my house and I had to be back by around 9:30, that was the natural place to go this morning. I called Jason the night before and he was agreeable to it also, so we met up there about 5:30 am.
Got the boats ready and launched and paddled out to the spot where the trout bite has been pretty consistent as of late.
We started casting with dark colored plastics, including saltwater assassins and Norton Sand Eel jrs, mostly

After a pretty good trip to Tiki Island a few nights prior, Jason and I decided we'd try the lights at Pirate's Cove. We've been out there early in the morning before heading to the marsh and the fish have been plentiful but a little shy and spooky.
We decided to take along Robert, with whom I've fished on a few PACK trips. Robert has been interested in taking a night trip, but has never done it.
We agreed to meet up about 10 at the Settegast Road

I've been itching to get back out on a night trip since it's been about a month since I've been, I talked with Alex to see if he was up for it also. He was.
We met at Fat Boy's around 11 pm. The wind was out of the south, a little stronger than I would wish for but still doable. Since we had the South wind, we decided to fish the North side so that we had some protection.
We set off and got to the first canal. This is a small canal that has severa

I guess I need to catch up on my fishing reports so that they will remain timely and relevant, so here goes...
On June 2, Jason and I headed to the Texas City Dike to fish Mosquito Island. I had heard some good stuff about the place recently, but unless I know I'm headed for some good fishing, I'm hesitant to launch down the levy. Fortunately, we found a boat ramp that is usable and only a short paddle away. I arrived first and launched at the Dollar Point Marina. It cost $5

I have only been kayaking a few times and it was several years ago. I am now single and have two small dogs that go just about everywhere I do. I need help on just about everything to get prepared. I have not purchased anything yet, since I really don't even know what type of kayak to buy that is good for me and the dogs. Also I need to know how to keep them safe as well. So much to learn I don't even now where to begin. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I live in northern texas so I have ri…
